Your impact:
As a Graduate Buyer, you'll bring enthusiasm, fresh perspectives, and a willingness to learn while working towards your CIPS accreditation. This role covers operational buying, data analysis, and strategic tendering, with increasing responsibility as you develop.
The person:
- 3 A levels or equivalent qualification
- BSc or MSc in Business, Procurement or Supply Chain Management is advantageous
- MCIPS qualified or willing to actively working towards
- Good communication, organisation and administration skills
- Eager to learn, approachable and proactive
- Good multitasking skills, with the ability to manage this effectively
- Strategic thinker who shows initiative, while recognising when to seek input or guidance
- Proficient in MS Office Suite and other relevant systems
- Takes ownership of tasks and works with integrity, ensuring accuracy and accountability
- Collaborative team player with strong relationship-building skills to engage effectively with key stakeholders.
The job:
- Analysing and reporting on procurement information as directed.
- Supporting administrative needs across the procurement function.
- Participating in mini-projects and objectives to enhance skills and capabilities.
- Preparing Requests for Quotations (RFQs) in accordance with company procedures.
- Negotiating with suppliers to secure the best commercial terms for GM.
- Coordinating allocated suppliers and supply categories as directed, building and maintaining supplier relationships.
- Working closely with the Finance department to ensure accurate cost coding, invoice reconciliation, and a smooth procure-to-pay process.
- Ensuring work is organised and filed properly for auditing purposes.
- Attending meetings, both on and off-site, as required.
- Engaging with credit controllers and customer services to resolve any procurement-related issues.
- Identifying and highlighting opportunities for process improvement within the Supply Chain department and supporting continuous development initiatives.
- Expediting purchase orders and addressing non-compliance or delays.
- Monitoring supplier performance, ensuring adherence to quality, delivery timelines and service level agreements.
- Assisting in market research to identify potential suppliers, new trends and cost-saving opportunities.
- Helping to create and maintain procurement reports, tracking performance metrics and supplier data.
- Coordinating with internal departments to ensure procurement aligns with project timelines, budgets and operational needs.
- Contributing to supplier evaluations, supporting the development of supplier performance improvement plans.
- Supporting contract management, ensuring terms and conditions are adhered to and assisting with renewals.
- Tracking and managing inventory levels, helping prevent overstocking or stock outs and supporting demand forecasting.
- Assisting in preparing budgets and forecasts for procurement activities, providing data to inform financial planning.
- Participating in sustainability initiatives, helping to source eco-friendly products and reducing the environmental impact of procurement activities.
- Helping resolve supplier disputes or delivery issues to minimise disruption to operations.
- Supporting the Logistics department when required to ensure smooth operational processes.
- Performing any other duties as necessary, within the scope of the role and the individual's competencies, to support the team and organisation.
