Our growing IT Team is looking to hire the next IT Manager who will be responsible for managing the relationship with our external IT helpdesk and all other IT-related service and hardware providers. As our IT Manager, you will also be responsible for setting up an IT Strategy, advising on policies and procedures concerning the security of the Company’s IT systems and users’ applications and users’ conduct on IT matters and their use of applications. Lastly, you shall also troubleshoot computer problems to determine source and advice on appropriate action.
What you’ll do:
- Identify and communicate the latest IT trends, as well as internal user satisfaction, and communicate these (with recommendations) to the Senior Management Team (SMT)
- Business relationships– support troubleshooting with IT Administrators and external IT service providers to determine the source of computer problems (hardware, software, user access, etc)
- Liaise between staff and external IT stakeholders to resolve issues.
- Oversee the development, implementation, and communication of GM’s Cyber Security strategy.
- Train users on IT-related applications
- Own the Efficiency and effectiveness of IT platforms and applications, and ensure relevant licenses are maintained.
- Implement projects for software applications.
- Good quality of service to internal and external clients
- Maintain IT assets on the vessels and in the office and ensuring relevant registers of assets are kept up to date.
- Staff on- and offboarding
- Ensure consistency in the acquisition of hardware/software.
Make recommendations and provide advice on the following:
- Company software/application purchases
- Policies and procedures concerning the use and security of IT applications and systems
- How to document resolutions for future reference
- Hardware required
Who We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor's Degree in IT or equivalent experience, with strong proficiency in Enterprise IT services and Microsoft Windows operating systems .
- Proven experience in leadership within a team in areas such as IT Service Desk Support, IT Project Management and Service Delivery across dynamic environments.
- Advanced understanding of business applications, with the ability to quickly learn, support, and troubleshoot software, hardware, and network-related issues.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a technical mindset and the ability to prioritise and manage workloads effectively.
- Excellent communication skills—clear, proactive, and confident in engaging with both technical/non-technical teams and external providers.
- Demonstrated ability to build and manage business relationships while maintaining a customer-focused, professional attitude.
- Flexible, adaptable, self-motivated team player who thrives in fast-paced settings and consistently collaborates to achieve shared goals.
- Full Drivers Licence to travel to our sites in the UK (Bristol Laboratory, Cornwall, & Vessels when docked)
- Valid Passport required for limited international travel to vessel or our St Gallen office (not a frequent requirement).
